Synopsis:
A story of moles keeping their system going against all manner of adversity
Notes:
This is a long tale of a colony (“system”) of moles fighting against difficulties within and without, rather along the lines of Watership Down. The author has (presumably) researched sufficiently into the behaviour of moles as to give realism to the story. What strikes one is the juxtaposition of animal behaviour against rational and spiritual behaviour. Great sections of the plot are led by the (purely animal) mating habits of moles; the rest of it concerns the quest of one or more of the moles to follow the spiritual way of moles, especially the White Moles of Glastonbury.
