Granny was a Buffer Girl
Style: Good
Attitude: Unobjectionable
Age Range: Mid Teens
Period: Contemporary
Genres: Historical , Short
Synopsis:
Jess is about to start a year abroad as part of her language degree. Her family throw a small party and each person tells a story of the past.
Notes:
A steady and, in places, touching series of recollections of life in Sheffield. Drawbacks come when religious differences are highlighted (Jess' Catholic granny married a Protestant and both faiths are portrayed as intolerant and rather bigoted) and later Jess' Mum speaks of her faith as something she used to believe in when a child.
