Author: Diana Wynne Jones
Age Range: Pre Teens+
Period: Various
Synopsis:
A set of short stories by several contemporary authors, mostly in the SciFi/Fantasy mould.
Notes:
The stories are only mediocre for the most part, unexpectedly since the authors are well-known writers of the genre, although not all for children. There is one (“The Vision”) concerning a West Country Benedictine monk of the Middle Ages who has a vision of the Glastonbury Rock Festival of the 1980s which might have been better left out. This is partly because it's a fairly poorly written story, whose denouement becomes obvious fairly early, and partly because of the slight digs it makes at the religious life.
