The Bronte Girls
Style: Weak
Attitude: Take Care → Positive
Age Range: Young Teens
Period: Contemporary
Genres: Girls , Romantic , Thought-provoking
Synopsis:
A father and mother are convinced that the 20th century will corrupt their three daughters and so they buy a secluded farmhouse and base their life on the Bronte family. A local lad gets to know one of the girls and causes the family to reconsider.
Notes:
An interesting premise, a variant on the “parents disapprove of daughter's boyfriend” theme, but one whose execution doesn't quite come off. You can't quite believe the mixture of 18th and 20th century in the characters of the people, especially the father, who's acting the paterfamilias one moment and ordering security lights the next.
