Man in Motion
Style: Good
Attitude: Positive
Age Range: Young Teens
Period: Contemporary
Genres: Coping with , Friendship , Growing-Up
Synopsis:
Lloyd (13) leaves his friends in a Hampshire village and moves to an (unspecified) city elsewhere in England with his (divorced) mother and student sister. He makes new friends.
Notes:
A story essentially about friendship, it is very positive while highlighting the value of a true friendship as distinct to one based on “technicalities and jokes”. The issue of racism (mostly absent in the cosmopolitan city) arises in the case of one friend and the story ends with Lloyd seeking the lodger's advice. A surprisingly fresh and positive book.
