Synopsis:
Tom Long is in quarantine for measles, which his brother Peter has caught. He goes to stay with his uncle and aunt in a small flat with no garden. He discovers that when the clock strikes thirteen he can enter a garden of a family in Victorian times, where only Hatty the young daughter of the family can see him. He visits her at different times in her young life and writes to tell Peter all about it. Finally one night, the night before he returns to his family, the garden is no longer there, and his cries wake Mrs Bartholomew the owner of the flat.
Notes:
A gentle time-travel story, not unlike Penelope Farmer's “Charlotte Sometimes”
