Goggle-Eyes
Style: Weak
Attitude: Unobjectionable
Age Range: Young Teens
Period: Contemporary
Genres: Coping with , Family
Synopsis:
Helen is upset about her mother's boyfriend; her friend tells Helen of the difficulties she had coming to terms with her own mother's “boyfriend” (both are middle-aged) whom she nicknames “Goggle Eyes”.
Notes:
The underlying story is that both sets of parents (Helen's and her friend's) are divorced and borth mothers are looking for new partners. This state of affairs is presented as normal. Had the book been about, say, two widowed mothers, it could have been recommendable: there are some amusing parts and evidence of friendship.
